Summary Information

This factsheet reports on recent Next Generation Traffic Incident Management deployments and describes how these deployments improved TIM. TRIP is a towing and recovery program with the target of facilitating safe and quick clearance of traffic incidents using specially trained and qualified towing companies. The referenced report shows tracked performance of TRIP since the program’s deployment in 2008.

Starting in 2008, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) began their Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP). TRIP is a towing and recovery program that facilitates safe and quick clearance of traffic incidents in Georgia using specially trained and qualified towing companies. Large commercial vehicle accidents are the focus of the program and towing companies receive incentives for their performance. The impact of TRIP includes clearance time and cost savings and allows GDOT and other state DOTs to understand the effectiveness of the program.

FINDINGS
