The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in Los Angeles, California wants to eliminate emissions from its fleet by 2030.

The MTA board is considering a $138 million proposal to buy 95 electric buses and install the charging infrastructure required to keep them running on two bus routes, the Orange Line in the San Fernando Valley and the 29-mile Silver Line along the Harbor and San Bernardino freeways.
MTA has proposed a budget of $72 million to replace all of the buses on the Orange Line. The breakdown of that figure is $51 million for 35 electric buses and $7.8 million for charging stations at both ends of the line.
MTA has proposed a $66 million budget to buy 60 electric buses, installing chargers along the route, and updating wiring to handle higher wattages on the Silver Line.
